Residential & Commercial Window Tinting

How much does residential window tinting cost?

Residential window tinting cost depends on film type, window size, glass type, access, and installation complexity. As a general estimate, solar films often range from $7–$25 per square foot, frost and decorative films from $7–$25 per square foot, and security films from $15–$40 per square foot. We provide free estimates for exact pricing in Fort Worth, Dallas, Arlington, and surrounding DFW areas.

Will window tint make my house too dark?

No, not necessarily. Modern residential window tinting can reduce heat, glare, and UV rays while still allowing natural light inside. Darker films are best when glare control or daytime privacy is the main goal.

Is there a one-way mirror film that works at night?

No. Reflective privacy film works by light balance. When it is brighter outside than inside, it improves daytime privacy. At night, when interior lights are on, blinds, shades, curtains, frost film, or blackout film are better privacy solutions.

Will window film kill my house plants?

Generally, no. Most plants need visible light more than UV rays. Window film reduces harsh heat and excessive sun exposure, and many plants adapt well. Sensitive plants may need time to adjust if a darker or more reflective film is installed.

Does window film stop furniture from fading?

Window film does not stop fading completely, but it can significantly reduce it. Many professional films block up to 99% of harmful UV rays. Since heat and visible light also contribute to fading, window film helps protect floors, furniture, rugs, artwork, and interiors.

Does window film help with energy bills?

Yes. Heat reduction window film helps block solar heat before it enters your home or business, reducing AC strain. Savings vary based on sun exposure, film type, HVAC performance, insulation, and window size.

Will tinting void my window warranty?

Some window manufacturers may limit warranty coverage if aftermarket film is applied. If your windows are under warranty, check with the window manufacturer before installation. We can recommend window-safe architectural films based on your glass type.

Can I apply film to double-pane or Low-E windows?

Yes, but the correct film must be selected. The wrong film can create thermal stress. We install architectural films designed for residential and commercial glass, including compatible options for many double-pane and Low-E windows.

Does window film reduce glare on TVs or computers?

Yes. Glare reduction window film helps reduce harsh sunlight on TVs, monitors, conference room screens, and office workstations while keeping natural light in the space.

Why is the room still warm after window film installation?

Window film controls heat entering through the glass, but it cannot fix heat from attics, walls, insulation problems, poor airflow, or HVAC issues. If a room drops from 98°F to 90°F after installation, the film reduced solar heat through the glass, but the room may still need better AC airflow or insulation improvements.

Can you remove old tint from windows?

Yes. We remove old, bubbling, peeling, or discolored window film and clean the glass before applying new film. Removal cost depends on the age of the film, adhesive condition, film type, and number of panes.

Does window film provide security?

Standard solar film may slightly help hold glass together, but real protection requires security window film. Security films are thicker and may be anchored to the frame for stronger glass retention.

Do you offer decorative or frosted window film?

Yes. We install frosted privacy film and decorative window film for bathrooms, offices, entryways, glass doors, conference rooms, storefronts, and custom design needs.

How does window film compare to blinds?

Blinds block light and views when closed. Window film helps reject heat before it enters while still allowing visibility. Many Fort Worth and Dallas customers use both window film and blinds together for better comfort, privacy, and light control.

Can window film be installed over old film?

No. Installing new film over old film can cause bubbling, adhesive failure, distorted views, discoloration, and warranty issues. Old film should be removed first.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Warranty coverage depends on the film brand, film type, glass type, and application. Many residential films from brands such as 3M, LLumar, Hüper Optik, V-KOOL, ASWF, and Johnson Window Films include manufacturer warranties covering bubbling, peeling, cracking, and delamination.

Can I tint just one window?

Yes. Whether you need one problem window fixed or a full residential or commercial window film installation, we can help.

Installation & Process

Is window film installed on the inside or outside?

Most window films are installed on the interior side of the glass. Exterior films are used only for specific applications, such as limited interior access or turf burn protection needs.

How long does installation take?

Most residential window tinting projects are completed in one day. Larger commercial window film projects may take several days or longer depending on glass quantity, access, scheduling, and project size.

Does window film bubble or peel over time?

Professionally installed, high-quality window film should not bubble or peel prematurely. Bubbling is usually caused by poor installation, low-quality film, old adhesive failure, or installing new film over old film.

Is there a strong smell during installation?

No. The installation solution is usually a mild soap and filtered water mixture. It is non-toxic and has little to no odor.

Do I need to move my furniture?

Yes. We need about 3 feet of clearance in front of each window. Heavy furniture, fragile items, electronics, papers, and valuables should be moved before installation.

How long does window film take to dry?

Solar films often cure in about 30 days. Ceramic films may take 30–60 days. Security films can take 60–120 days. Drying time depends on film type, glass type, weather, and sun exposure. Small water bubbles or haze during curing are normal.

Is installation messy?

We work cleanly and use professional installation methods, but water is used during application. Move sensitive items before installation, especially electronics, papers, furniture, and valuables near windows.

Is a small light gap around the edge normal?

Yes. A small edge gap is standard and helps prevent peeling or lifting. Darker films may make the edge gap more noticeable than lighter films.

Care & Maintenance

Can I clean my windows after tinting?

Yes, but wait at least 30 days after installation before cleaning the film side of the glass. This allows the film to cure and bond properly.

What cleaners should I use?

Use a soft cloth or paper towel with an ammonia-free cleaner. Avoid abrasive pads, razor blades, harsh chemicals, and ammonia-based products because they can damage the film over time.

What if I scratch the film?

Most films have a scratch-resistant coating, but deep scratches from sharp objects cannot be repaired. The affected pane may need to be replaced with new film.

How long does window film last?

Film life depends on brand, film type, glass type, sun exposure, and installation quality. Many residential films carry long-term manufacturer warranties, while commercial warranties vary by product and application.

Why does the window look hazy after installation?

Haze is normal during the curing period. It is usually moisture trapped between the glass and film. As the film dries, the haze and small water pockets evaporate naturally.
